At a New Crossroads

After Palin Goes to Washington,
The Saga continues…

Five days ago, I wrote about the possibilities of something very uncommon happening in the United States.
Something not seen since the late 1930′s.
Appointment of a resigned governor, to the Senate.
An article, written just two days after what is becoming one of the most important, and one of the greatest nights of this century.  The election of President Elect, Barack Obama.

But that’s not even the half of it.

The Resignation of Sarah Palin is one of the yellow brick roads on way to disrupt a hopeful, 60 Senate seat Majority. The attempt at majority is aggressively being watched by all who are hoping that Democrats will have a ‘Filibuster’ proof Senate.

On the road to see who will be behind the curtains for the next term.
We have three yellow brick roads leading to our New Emerald City.

These roads are paved with the sweat and tears of campaigners. Polished to a shiny golden glow, with voter hopes and dreams. Our voter confidence, skipping, merrily along three long roads, with a lot of twists and turns and “ifs, and maybes”.

Is a merry majority still possible?

Coming in the next few weeks…
We will know if we have been on the correct golden brick road. We will know if there is a house about to fall on our heads. Or, if a few winged monkeys, and their wicked witch from the west, will just melt away from the public eye.

The 2008 US election has left the people, at a New crossroads.
If only for the symbolic nature of choosing four different paths to travel on.

At the time of witting this.
Democrats walked down one golden road to a win in the Oregon Senate race.
Democrat Jeff Merkley has ousted Republican Sen. Gordon Smith, a victory once considered unlikely against an incumbent. The first defeat for an Oregon senator in 40 years.

In Minnesota, Republican Sen. Norm Coleman leads Al Franken by a scant 237 votes. Democrats are hopeful Franken can make up that difference in a recount. If the Democrats can pull out of this close call with the just one more than the Standing Republican in Minnesota, they’ll be standing at 58 strong when they vote this term.

In Alaska, the race for a democrat in the Senate is still far from over. Democrat Mark Begich trails embattled Ted Stevens by 3,400 votes, but there are 55,000 absentee and provisional ballots that won’t be counted until next week. If democratic hopeful Mark Begich can find at least 25,801 votes to him. Democrats will be at 59.

If both of these roads are traveled on, then it gets really interesting for the race to a Filibuster proof Senate.
To secure a 60th seat in the Senate, democrats need to win the Georgia runoff next month.
The runoff is to be scheduled on or about the 2nd of December. [This means we need to rally Georgian democratic voters just as strong as we did in the National Election. Georgians have a great opportunity with this final electoral road. A greater democratic change is possible, We just have only a few weeks to wins this!]

Political analysts believe incumbent Republican Saxby Chambliss would win any runoff, because African Americans likely won’t turn out in the same numbers for a runoff. National Republicans will be motivated to win the Georgia runoff after the stinging losses on Super Tuesday.

Currently Sen. John Mccain, has made pilgrimage. Possibly down the wrong golden road to Georgia, in hopes of helping Sen. Saxby Chambliss try and gain enough support in his state.
Republican helping Republican, Chambliss trying to remain an incumbent for the Senate.

If  Sen. Mccain is successful in helping Sen. Chambliss, this will not only be the first constructive Win for the former presidential hopeful. It will also be the first event to help mend his political clout with his party. An attempt to provide evidence that his efficacy as a public servant will not be completely stained by his failed presidential campaign.

If history is about to provide the United States Senate, filibuster proof, with governing control by a 60 seat Democratic majority. We will effectively have, two grand historic electoral wins in US history!

I am talking a survey of political editors/bloggers and I would like to ask you a few questions about your motivations and what you hope will come from writing about US Politics in the Next two years…

Please email me, and let me know if you would be willing to fill out a short survey about your site.
